Brenics Transport are acutely aware of the driver shortage in New Zealand and appreciate that it is not always possible to get qualified drivers with the correct knowledge and attitude to meet our standards.

For this reason we as a company take on, on a regular basis young people wanting to make a career in the transport industry. The only requirement these cadets need is a full class 1 licence held for six months and a 2L.

These cadets are then placed with one of our operational staff to gain some driving experience before we put them through for their class 2 full.

As our operation runs 24/7 cadets are made aware that this is not an eight to five job Monday to Friday. Hours can be long; weekends short, but you do meet some great people and have some enjoyable experiences.

Over the next 18 months these cadets are trained in various aspects of our business and the transport industry ie: documentation,

: Vehicle loading and inspections

: Customer service

: Health and safety

: Legal requirements

While working their way up through the remaining licence classes.

The cadets spend a certain amount of time with a professional tutor in the class room doing various unit standards which all go toward their National Certificate in Heavy Road Transport.

With the range of vehicle combinations we have cadets get an opportunity to experience local and linehaul situations and pick a career as a driver that suits them.
